This is the last chance for inaugural group of Gators lacrosse players to win a national title. For the 13 seniors who part of the first year, their final trek through the post-season starts today.
Florida captured the top seed for the American Lacrosse Conference tournament and opens against Ohio State at 4 p.m. in Baltimore.
The Gators (16-1) won the conference tournament last year on their way to the program’s first Final Four appearance. If they win the ALC tourney again, they likely will play at home for the first two rounds of this year’s NCAA tournament.
If UF survives Ohio State today, they will face Northwestern or Penn State for the championship Sunday. Penn State is the only team to beat the Gators this season.
The NCAA tournament begins next Friday.
